The Iron Trial has a very interesting story and unique premise where the main character DOESNT want to be part of a magic school and does his best to be rubbish at it. There were very obvious comparisons to another story but any kind of wizardry type story will have those similarities.
The end of the book was a nice surprise - wont spoil it here though!
I will eventually pick up the next book but I'm in no hurry to read the rest of the series - probably because I'm a bit old for the target audience so it's not quite pulling me back in.
