The Other's Gold by Elizabeth Ames

2.0

I really enjoyed the set up of this book - 4 girls from high school who stay friends through their lives. The novel is structured around the worst thing each of the foursome does in life. That's compelling to me. Where the book just didn't work is the substance of the worst things. Each became more horrible and outlandish than the last. I couldn't help feeling that the author aimed to shock more that enlighten. Ultimately, the worst things were so bad that I was left without sympathy for the characters.
