jessibellepip 's review for:
Princess in Waiting
by Meg Cabot
Okay, before I get into how much I loved this book and people are complaining too much when saying Mia is whiny...
The entire thing where Lars looked menacing because of his dark tan seems entirely racist, and while that is more than likely not the intent, I would recommend that the author amend this. It is not okay to state that. What would make someone seem inherently more menacing because they were darker skinned? I thought about this for a good two hours or so, trying to kill over how it could be something not racist, but I came up with nothing. I know these are the thoughts of Mia, but just something was really off about that.
That aside, I loved the books. I didn't take off any star rating for that, I probably should, but it was a small statement that was never brought up again, and did not contribute to the book in any way, which is why it could be and should be taken out. Anyway, Mia wasn't whiny. She was the same insecure Mia in this book. I think people see it as much of a problem because it was focused around a boy this time than say her height, hair, or lack of breasts. Which is something she complained about in the first three books constantly.
I loooooove this book. It has the same wit and charm as the first three. Michael is the best as usual. If only we could all have a Michael Moscovitz.
