I really love reading books with elderly protagonists and the ones in this book are just charming. They all felt very real and I want to have tea and cake with them all.
I have a couple of small issues though. One being the sheer number of characters to keep straight in my head. It was a lot and some of the side characters weren't exactly fleshed out enough to be memorable; which is understandable but frustrating nonetheless. The other slight negative was the big reveal. It felt a bit anticlimactic when it came, even if I couldn't call it.
I had fun with it though and Lesley Manville does a bang up job of narrating the audiobook. I'll definitely carry on the series.
