Fear of Dying by Erica Jong

3.0

I expected something different from this book. I read Fear of Flying years after it came out (I wasn't born yet when it came out) at an age where I was just starting to get it. Fear of Dying is humorous. It's sad. It's a lot of things. It's about Vanessa, friend of Isadora Wing. Vanessa is getting older. She's 60 pretending to be 50. She has a husband that's 20 years her senior that she loves. But, still posts an ad (on a site for adulterers) looking sex. She has a fear of getting older and, a fear of dying. Dealing with her geriatric parents, about to become a grandmother... I liked the scenes from the life of a younger Vanessa. How she became the wealthy, face lifted, upper east side woman that I've known over and over. The book ends in India. Fitting. I cant say I LOVED it. But it definitely made me think.
