Olga Dies Dreaming by Xochitl Gonzalez

medium-paced

4.0

Notes to start, it has time jumping from past to present (in case that isn’t your jam). Also, this book does contain a s….. assault (which I know can be a sensitive area for some).
I really liked this book. Was a quick read for me. Olga was a great character. I was so angry toward her mother throughout the entire book. Midway through I convinced myself I was being too harsh. However, her words and actions toward the end solidified my feelings. Dick… I had hoped he would turn out to be a good guy in the end… Would have loved to see more date scenes for Olga and Mateo. There relationship was so cute and would have been so much better had they been unencumbered by Olga’s family…drama(?). Drama doesn’t feel right - it’s so much more - family duty maybe. Family and cultural expectations was the theme across the board.
