One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5.0

This book was beautiful. I am obsessed with Taylor Jenkins Reid’s writing! This book focuses on Emma Blair who marries her high school sweetheart, Jesse, in her twenties… both of them eager to leave their hometown in Massachusetts and explore the world. When Jesse is given the opportunity to go to Alaska, on their one year anniversary he goes and his helicopter goes missing over the Pacific and is assumed dead. As Emma receives this heartbreaking news, she begins to figure out how to cope and grief as well as settle with the fact that what she thought was is no longer her future… Years later in her thirties after spending time grieving, moving back home with her parents and becoming an overall stronger person she meets an old friend, Sam Werner. She finds herself falling in love with him and they get engaged. All seems perfect until Jesse is found alive. Now the ball is in her court and she has to decide. I LOVED this book! It was everything you need in a romance book and so much more! I loved how we were able to see Emma grow and mature. The characters are all so lovable. The story was really easy to follow and the writing was very to the point but also very well written and smooth. Not choppy, but also not like a literary analysis. If I didn’t have school I would’ve finished this book in a day for sure! I’d recommend this book in a heartbeat! This definitely won’t be my last read by TJR!
