The Maid by Nita Prose

3.0

I liked this one. It was fine. The pacing was great and there were some heartwarming characters. It isn't quite the "thrills and chills" I was expecting based on the BotM categorization. It was more suited for an episode of a syndicated TV show or a short mini series. Enjoyable to read, but not groundbreaking.

I think I'm in a phase where I could do without epilogues or "so many months into the future" final chapters (this book had both).

Molly the Maid is very particular and tends to work in absolutes (think of Sheldon from BBT or Fern from The Good Sister for a similar character). During one shift at the hotel, she discovers the body of a frequent guest and gets wrapped into the investigation of his potential murder.

I think this was supposed to lend to an air of mystery setting, but instead I was more interested in the relationships she had with her coworkers and didn't care too much about the crime.
