Picked this up without knowing it was part of a series until I was half way threw the first chapter.
In general that wasn't too much of an issue, however it just meant that understanding some of the backstories and interactions/introductions of some of the characters was more of a "just go with it" as they had been explained/introduced in previous books. This was my first time reading a Thriller (normally I mainly read fantasy), and overall it was pretty good.
The ghost thing was kinda weird and I was totally not expecting it based on the dust jacket summery Other than that I thought that the characters were well written, and that the pacing was good. Not my favourite book of all time but good enough that I'll look to see if my library has more from the series.
