Five Brothers
by Penelope Douglas
⭐️⭐️⭐️½ – Slow Burn That Took a While to Catch Fire
This book was super duper slow for me. I had a hard time getting into it, and for the majority of the story, I was honestly just waiting for something to really happen. The writing was moody and atmospheric, which I appreciated, but I found myself dragging through most of it—until the final few chapters. That’s when the story finally grabbed me and had me hooked.
I think I went into this book with the wrong expectations. Based on the title and synopsis, I assumed the story would be more intense or thrilling from the start. while the Jaeger brothers were definitely intriguing in their own mysterious, damaged ways, I just wanted more from the plot overall.
That being said, the ending redeemed a lot. I just wish the pacing throughout matched the impact of those final chapters.
