My Dear Henry: A Jekyll & Hyde Remix
by Kalynn Bayron
Enjoyment/Appreciation Level: Mid-range.
TL;DR:
I liked it well enough, for being a Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde retelling, but felt a little too detached from the characters overall. Much like the original, it felt very ambiguous.
Summary:
In this gothic YA remix of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, a teen boy tries to discover the reason behind his best friend's disappearance—and the arrival of a mysterious and magnetic stranger—in misty Victorian London.
Themes:
Othering. Homophobia. Racism.
