Help Me!: One Woman's Quest to Find Out if Self-Help Really Can Change Her Life by Marianne Power
4.0
Help Me! by Marianne Power is a free NetGalley ebook that I read in mid-December.
The authoress herself, Marianne, is staving off anxiety, low motivation, and poor self-image, so she reads one common, yet classic self-help book per month for one year. These books tell her to embrace what she’s afraid of, wealth management, manifestation of what one desires, Manifestation: Extreme Edition, celestial protection, getting used to rejection, self-love, reducing stress, living in the moment, questioning one’s grievances, taking chances, and finding one’s ideal partner, yet not being of much help when she’s sick or depressed. While I was dissuaded from many of the books that Marianne read (but not from Marianne herself, since her plain-spoken and honest attitude had me cheering for her success), I see the most motivation (for me) to be had from The Secret by Rhonda Byrne and The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.
