finished the book only because an author of my fav bible-long Marauders era fic mentioned that their characterization of Regulus Black is quite Ender-coded.
felt a lot like when watching "Merry Christmas, Mr. Laurence" or "La 317ème section", where female characters are either non-existent or extras who get about 5 sec of screen time.
Mr. Scott should have fact-checked how many women were in service even in 1985, when this text was published, before making his characters from the future say stuff like "girls can't pass the tests, too many centuries of evolution are working against them." it's a pity that here women are only good enough to be a push for the main character in the needed direction when he hits the wall.
