Monster in the Mirror by Kristen Painter
Shadowvale series #6. Paranormal romance. Closed door.
Izzy moved to Shadowvale after finding an apartment on the town website. Sight unseen. She needed to move quickly before her prior neighbors found out about her brother. The apartment is minimally furnished and she meets her nice looking, doctor, neighbor as he helps her unload her car. Izzy is happy with her move until she sees a massive tiger walking down the middle of the street and finds out the doctor is none other than cursed Dr Henry Jekyll and Edgar Hyde. What kind of a town has she moved into?

Izzy has a lot to deal with from the town of all kinds of interesting people, to her neighbor, and her own blooming powers. She handles it all impressively well. Sure, she freaks out a little over the loose tiger but everything from there is almost blasé. Not sure what I’d do it I found out I was in the home of vampires.

Entertaining and a bit humorous although there is a bit of drama and mystery.

🎧 I did a second read of this book via audiobook narrated by B J Harrison who does the full series. This format adds a bit more drama to the text making clear Izzy’s surprise at the Tiger for instance. His voice is deep and clear and much better on the male side of the characters than female. He does make the story compelling.
I listened to this at 1.6 which a smidge faster than I prefer but is necessary IMO for this narrator.
