Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison

5.0

I actually went into this book with no idea. I knew it wasn't the sci-fi "The Invisible Man" (after reading the Ellison's bio, that became pretty clear) but I still wasn't expecting to love it. I still truly enjoyed it. If you're looking for a book that is truly relevant to not only the racial experience in the US, but, arguably as importantly, the human experience, this book is the way to go. The comparison of invisibility to race, work, individuality, etc. (truly, it's an English teacher's wet dream as far as that's concerned) was great. Only thing, kind of dragged, but it picked up at the end and I was engaged. Good book and I feel like a goddamn intellectual now.
