I read this as a kid in 6th grade and it started me down my horror novel path! I loved Goosebumps as all kids did so I was comfortable with RL Stine's writing style and this is the first piece of media that gave me chills. I was truly creeped out by this book. As an adult I have no idea if it holds up, but I will forever be grateful that my parents got me this book.
