Ishi In Two Worlds by Theodora Kroeber, Theodora Kroeber

5.0

If you don't have a strong stomach, skip the first half of the book.

My great grandmother was full native California and is buried in a marked grave at Mission Dolores. The stories told in this book are as close as I can get to family stories because I was adopted at birth and was not raised with my native family.

I am grateful this book exists.

I am grateful to learn so much. But mostly that Ishi was respected and loved and knew friendship in our modern world.
