The Telling
by Alexandra Sirowy
THE TELLING by Alexandra Sirowy
Published: 2016
Genre: Mystery
Age-range: Young Adult
Pages: 387
Themes: Grief for her step brothers death, love between step siblings, some murders and a mentally unstable main character
Setting: USA
RATING
Main character: 5 Lana
Side characters: 2 Faceless people to me
Writing: 7
Plot: 6
Enjoyment: 7
Atmosphere: 10
Intrigue: 8
Logic: 2
Total: 5,87 --- 3 stars
Notes: Lana is an unlikeable character and I don't have a problem with that, I admit I would have liked her character more if she would have chosen differently in the end - I think then this book could have blown me away, I saw coming that Ben was alive and behind all this, mentally unstable and such and I would seriously have loved for her to ride into the sunset with him - she was so unlikeable why not go all the way and make her the villain in the end?. Since it's a mystery novel intrigue was there because I was hoping the end would be different. I gave only 2 points for logic because: I didn't understand in the least why a love between step siblings is so bad?? And why she never talked to him about it, if their relationship to one another was so good???. Sadly I didn't care for main or side characters until the end. But the atmosphere was very good, especially in the audiobook.
