kind of hated at first bc it felt very miserable & out of touch (classist even) but reluctantly found myself relating to the mc A LOT !!! which made me uncomfortable because she is clearly deeply flawed Lol but idk in all this was weirdly pleasant and breezy would like to revisit when im older . havent been reading a lot lately but somehow all the stuff ive read this year gives me the same feeling: this, kitchen - banana yoshimoto, the vegetarian - han kang, to a lesser extent terminal boredom - izumi suzuki ...... all follow lonely & extremely antisocial women living in what feel like very empty worlds (not to mean poorly written or anything but rather barren , populated but desolate at the same time, far away, etc, the way u would expect the world to look & feel thru an extremely self-contained/self-interested persons eyes) with not a whole lot going on (at least plot wise) .......... hm..... sure hope that changes soon but it feels like all i can stomach right now
