Summerwater by Sarah Moss
5.0

This is the first Sarah Moss novel I have read & it definitely won’t be the last. Wonderful observational writing & a beautifully simple but original plot.

There can’t be many of us who haven’t at some point in our lives spent a dreary, rain-sodden holiday in a slightly shabby holiday park having to pass the time time people watching as there is just nothing else to do!! This short novel takes place over the course of just one day, a day of persistent & torrential rain, never leaves the forest lodge park but instead examines the temporary inhabitants, from many different POV, every detail of their lives & thoughts, & how they interact (or not) with each other.

I found it a fascinating read & although the ending was clever & unexpected I did find it rather abrupt- I wasn’t expecting to be shocked! A great read which I originally awarded 4.5 stars but after thinking about have come back with a full tally! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
