The Wolf Den

pliny the elder what are you doin here :0
the historical elements of this historical fiction were so well woven into the story and each little cultural detail painted such a clear picture. reminded me of that phase of childhood when we learn about ancient greece and become obsessed. i was also really impressed and relieved to see that it never even got close to erotic or romance-y. sexual violence was sexual violence and there were no blurred lines there. the violence was depicted in the aftermath and the quotidian lives of the women, not in shock-value descriptions of rape. sometimes i think about the individual lives of every woman who has ever lived. yknow.
