The Third Gate by Lincoln Child
3.0

This is the first of Lincoln Child's solo books I've read, having gone through nearly all of the Preston-Child books. Like the team efforts, has an entertaining mix of science, hi-tech, the supernatural, and characters whose downfalls come after giving way one of the seven deadlies. The Third Gate is about the archaeological find of the centuries - the "real" tomb of Pharaoh Narmer, said to have united Upper & Lower Egypt -- and what happens to those participating in the fieldwork. As an archaeologist, I appreciated the various descriptions of personnel & methodology - Preston/Child usually get this stuff right, and this book is no exception. I took a chance on this as an available ebook from the library & will look for more of Mr. Child's work.
