If you are in a reading slump, this book is not for you!
I was struggling in the first half of the book, and would probably have DNF'ed it if it weren't for the book club having chosen the 'God & Monsters' series as their next.
That said, once the story finally kicks in, I really enjoyed it. The chemistry between the two main characters is fantastic, and I want to know more about them. By the end, I was hooked enough to want to jump into the second book—fingers crossed it’s a bit tighter and smoother! But that's also it; their relationship and what they are, what they are capable of, interests me.
Unfortunately, there were a lot of grammatical hiccups—like random jumps into the present tense—and tons of repeated sentences. Plus, there’s an overabundance of unnecessary details that don’t really move the story forward.

The characters can be frustrating too—they’ve got severe anger management issues and probably a hefty dose of PTSD. Their humour sometimes lands a bit immature, especially considering how long they’ve been around, which I'm not really into.
