Seven of Hearts
by Maggie Gates
My initial thoughts once I finished the book: this couple deserves all the happiness in the world!
Logan and Leah's story pretty much start with a one-night stand. It was supposed to be a fantasy coming true, just one night without anybody knowing. But life had other plans, and said plans came back with a positive pregnancy test.
I'll be honest, I felt that this story was moving too fast and I couldn't find myself fully invested up until 20% of the book. But then I just couldn't stop reading until I finished it.
Logan and Leah's story is sweet, emotional, real.
Whenever we read the pregnancy trope, it tends to be this beautiful and amazing experience. In reality, this isn't always the caseāand Maggie shows us exactly this. How challenging this whole experience can be; the fears, the changes the body goes through, the anxiety, and overall how hard it can truly be.
Logan's character growth is just incredible! He went from this man who's focused on living by himself, with this pressure on his shoulders that he absolutely cannot make a single mistake in life, to someone who wants it all with the woman he's in love with. To have a family of his own, and dedicating his life to them. Yeah, this man definitely made me swoon.
He's a protector, he's caring, he's it.
Leah is amazing, and she deserves everything! The way some people treated her made me see red, so knowing she had this beautiful support system, and this wonderful man by her side put genuine smile on my face.
It was so wholesome to see both Logan and Leah navigating through this new reality. All the small moments and sweet gestures truly warmed my heart. I love them.
I really enjoyed Maggie's writing, this was my first book by this author, and it won't be my last.
P.S.: I did feel a bit overwhelmed with so many characters present, so even though this book can be read as a standalone, I think it's worth reading Beaufort Poker Club series prior for a better experience.
