Dead Man's Blues by Ray Celestin

WHERE DO I EVEN START. This was such a good book, I'm genuinely sad to have finished it but I still have the third one to read so my sadness is still limited in that sense. I seriously didn't expect this plot at all. First of all, the whole setting is so CAPTIVATING. As a big fan of jazz, Louis Armstrong and the 20s this was so interesting and fun to dive into. I went into this with the mindset of reading more about Michael and Ida's lives but I absolutely fell in love with Dante and Jacob and was just as sad when all the tragedies related to them happened. I was seriously so upset I had to stop reading for a while. The whole plot mixed with real life events made the story so intriguing and even if it's a good mix of fiction and reality, it really gives you a great first insight into America and Chicago and the era of prohibition, as well as Capone himself. I seriously cannot stress how much I loved this. This book was truly a captivating experience.
