Frankenstein
by Mary Shelley
A book to make you think. Shelley's proficiency in handling the words and the emotions is surprising.
If you haven't read it, start reading.
I'll address Victor Frankenstein as Victor and the creature as Frankenstein because Victor created him.
Sometimes I felt like she's biased, making Victor the good guy. Again, she gives us the story from Frankenstein's perspective. Making us feel sympathy for him. If Victor didn't discard his creation, Frankenstein, in horror and disgust, things might've been different. Frankenstein was a newborn, knowing nothing of the world. Victor was bound to teach him everything, to show him the difference between good and bad. And what did the idiot do? He let loose a creature with immense power who doesn't understand ANYTHING. A creature who never knew what love is. What do you expect Frankenstein to do? I think that what Frankenstein did is understandable. His deeds are horrifying, inhuman, but who's to blame for that? Victor!
But, who am I blaming? Victor is, after all, just a human. He had the power of a god, of life, but he was not a god. His horror when Frankenstein came to life is thus justified. Victor was hasty. A discovery so powerful should've been given a great deal of thought before application.
