It’s unfortunate I didn’t vibe with the writing style, because HOLY SHIT this book is fantastic.

It really fixed almost every problem I had with LGBTQIA+ rep in media. Plus, the Greek/Cypriot representation is well executed and very realistic. I won’t speak on the mixed/black rep, since I haven’t had such experiences myself being white, but it seemed to be really well handled, and what else could you expect from an author of colour?

The one problem I had with it was a lot of things the reader was just told instead of shown, but I don’t believe we missed anything too important.
I probably won’t be reading Dean Atta again, just because I don’t vibe with this writing style, but it’s certainly unique and I’m very happy I read this.

This copy was gifted to me by the amazing Simone (aka Beyond Bookish) and I’m seriously SO thankful! Go check her out on booktube and bookstagram @beyond_bookish, she is incredible!🖤💗
