๐Ÿ’ญDisappointing - Let down the expectations!

Kalki is named after the avatar of Lord Vishnu which is foretold to appear in Kalyuga according to the legends.
The book, Kalki is about Kalki (hero) and Kali (villain) who are dharma and adharma respectively.
Born in the quiet village of Shambala, Kalki Hari, son of Vishnuyath and Sumati, has no idea about his heritage until he is pitted against tragedies and battles started by Durukti.
Durukti, who is the sister of Kali and who, in the name of saving her brother Kali from an unknown illness, is hell-bent on destroying Kalkiโ€™s village to find the cure.
Kali is a young charismatic leader who, after leading a successful movement against the Manava king Vedanta, has brought together the many tribes that inhabit the ancient land of Illavarti. In a bid to ensure the inclusion of all the banished tribes, Kali seizes control of the capital city of Indragarh.

The pace of the story is very desperately fast. Everything happens very rapidly. Thereโ€™s potential in the characters and world, but no amount of creativity can overcome bad writing. Yes, it may be a mythical phenomenon but the author or editor or the publication did a really bad job of narrating it. I haven't completed half of the book and I can see a lot of mistakes in this book. There were repeated repetitions of the traits of the characters. Dialogues often seem irrelevant or totally out of the context of the situation. The editing has been done like a student who has an early deadline for a report submission.

The number of characters dying can tell us how much Kevin loves GOT(Kevin has said, the book is inspired by Game of Thrones and Baahubali respectively). Hence, a lot of scenes and words used in the book were a direct imitation of the scenes from the above epics. Such as fighting scenes where Kalki lighted bulls horns on fire and the use of some British accents and words(like mate, man, lass, darling, my love, eh) was extremely irritating and it really ruined the experience.

I dont understand why this book has been rated high because this book is completely typical Bollywood masala. There is a hero, born with superpowers. No one can beat me, I am the saviour of humanity! The expressions, fights, the characters are all exaggerated.

Overall, a huge disappointment. I have read many other mythological fiction and they were soo good. I was captivated by the idea of Kalki - an avatar of Lord Vishnu and thought of reading this book and it turns out to be a bad decision.

๐.๐’ Not sure when I will be reading the second installment if at all I think of reading it.
