One thing about Maggie Gates is she’s gonna write a book with complex characters, no cookie cutter bs around here. (Plus this is one of the best enemies to lovers that I’ve read in a hot minute!)
Lennon aka trouble aka slugger is a hot mess express, using anger to protect herself. Throughout the story she learns to put down her fists and open up her heart
CJ aka Carson James is a prideful man who knows how to hold a grudge, but behind that is a soft heart that feels sadness as deep as the rest of us.
The love that CJ has for Lennon is one that wrecked me. He saw her tough exterior, her raised fists, her urge to run, and he followed her, chose her, pursued her. Lennon had never been chosen before, she had never been someone’s “sure thing”. Lennon may hide it but she loves fiercely and fully once she lets someone in.
They healed pieces of one another and the love they made was precious.
I hate saying goodbye to a series, but it has been a pleasure getting to know and love the Griffith’s!
