Henry's parents go missing and he's sent to live with his aunt, uncle and cousins in Henry, Kansas. He's enjoying small town life until plaster starts dropping from the walls of his attic room, uncovering 99 cupboard doors that seem to lead to magical worlds. Henry's cousin, Henrietta, is in on the action and more gung-ho than Henry to investigate, which only leads to trouble and blood and evil cats, of course. A slow start with a big dark finish. I'm curious what happens in the sequel, but not enough to read it.
