The Summers Between Us
by Noreen Nanja
If I had a nickel for every book I read about two childhood best friends falling in love during summers at a lake in Canada only to be mysteriously torn apart in their young adulthood and then reconnecting in their adulthood, then id have 3 nickels which is weird. But also give me more nickels?
Somehow ive fallen in love with this particular trope and I wouldn’t have it any other way. This one was pretty good! Writing was a little plain and seemed inexperienced in some way, but I liked the overall premise. The family and cultural identity was a nice addition but I wished it had been explored a little more in depth, especially the sisters relationships.
