A dark atmospheric book with themes of loss, forbidden love and tradition. Set in 16th century Europe during the dancing plague. Historical fiction exploring the parallel of God & the exploitation of power. Strong character development which carried the book throughout. Some elements of the plot could have been explored more. Specifically the chapters from the point of view of the dancers and the ending. Brilliant writing exploring a limited documented part of history.
