This book was a trip. I was rooting for Gilda, and then chastising her, and then worried for her. There are a lot of topics that could be raised from her clear need for support and the failings of the system, of her family, etc. that are, quite frankly, just sad. Her low points made me uncomfortable and nervous. I was so glad Gilda had Eleanor because in the moments she was with her or spoke of her she was seemed more grounded and I wanted her to be okay.

I like a happy ending but this one felt particularly tidy for how much of a shit show things were devolving into. I also am not convinced that Rose would have killed herself. My limited experiences in Catholicism at least know that it's a sin threatened with eternal damnation in many parishes.
