The Freeze by Dan Wickline

4.25

I was pleasantly surprised by how good this was. For a sci-fi comic I've heard nothing about, which I found scrummaging through cheap sale titles in a comic book shop, I really rather loved it.

It very much has the feel of the BBC TV show Survivors, which may be part of why I liked it so much. The themes are similar - the mystery of what has happened to everyone, a small group of people trying to survive in a new world, new religious beliefs emerging, dangerous people on the loose and a moral debate about what to do about criminals in a world without functioning prisons.

As it is only one volume (four issues) of a comic, some of the themes described above are admittedly underdeveloped and incomplete. I really want to see sequels, and I can't find anything online saying when or if they may appear. This volume came out in 2019 so my suspicion is that the pandemic may have got in the way - hopefully not permanently.

I really liked this, I want to read more of it.
