This is a beautifully written book. The characters are so deeply and wonderfully developed, and the author does not turn away from the darker parts of their humanity.
This is not a light-hearted book, or a comforting one. It is a snapshot of colonialism and how it continues to play out in our world, and a painting of the women that it introduces us to. It's brilliant and devastatingly sad, but never dehumanizing. I look forward to reading more from this author.
