I read this after enjoying Peter May's Lewis Trilogy. I loved the Trilogy, perhaps because I listened to the audio books where the Scottish accent added to the deep sense of place. Entry Island is set in Canada and while the remote island setting is similar it didn't capture my imagination as much as I had hoped. It was almost 2 novels in one - the main plot being the investigation of a murder on Entry Island and the second being the diary of an ancestor of the main character. Perhaps it was because I'm not a fan of historical fiction that I found myself skimming the diary portions. I enjoyed the murder mystery part of the book more, and liked the ending where the history and current investigation came together.
