C.Jat is a famous artist who perfectly captured laughter in a painting of the sea.  The story of the painting, C.Jat and Louisa, a grieving teenage artist is lovingly and poignantly told in My Friends.  Deeply funny and irreverent while  gracefully engaging the reader to explore themes of grief and life’s suffering, Bachman deals with the beauty and necessity of art, the impact of adolescent friendships and the way everything changes in grief.  The moments of profound insight often caused me to catch my breath and ponder my humanity. Beautiful, insightful, snarky, profound, delightful, melancholic, and wonderful.
