Funny Story is, in fact, funny but also a very emotionally poignant story about the care and vulnerability that are required of us in maintaining relationships, be it romantic or otherwise. In her fourth romance novel, Henry continues to play with the tropes of the genre in a way that both comments on them and brings them to live simultaneously. Provided with this easy narrative structure, the novel shines through the dedication put in the characters and especially the very well written dialogue.

Daphne and Miles, our leads, have differently informed understandings of the world around them that shape their relationships. They manage to be complex while also very endearing. Their sense of humor is a standout of the book, which combined with Henry's writing ability to set a scene makes for perfect comedy at times.
