Among the Beasts & Briars by Ashley Poston

4.0

I actually enjoyed this book a lot. The connections among the characters all feel sincere, even the friendships, which I feel is difficult to convey. The entire story is about a girl who works with her father, the royal gardener, in a secluded village surrounded by a magical dangerous wood. She escapes the curse and sets out to save her dad, her best friend and her whole village. The entire story has a very Disney fairy tale vibe.

I'm just still annoyed that the author chose to use a Disney quote as her review that ultimately ruins a major plot point. I don't think that any of the revelations were particularly surprising but there's a difference in guessing along the way, and the author giving it away.
