Extinction Red Line by Tom Abrahams, Nicholas Sansbury Smith

5.0

This is the prequel to ‘The Extinction Cycle’ and the origin story of the Da River beast that hunts humans and eats them. It’s not surprising that it all starts with a chemical that will enhance the fighting powers of American soldiers in Vietnam. It is what it is and it doesn’t try to be anything else— pure entertainment. Five stars from me. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t deserve those stars on the basis of being ‘great’ literature, but I don’t care. I will be devouring the rest of the series over the year.
