His Lady in Hiding by Jen Geigle Johnson
4.0

What I love about this book is that the conflict is not like usual historical romance novels, they are consequences of actions, whether good or bad. I also like that it wasn't an instant love connection, instead Liz and Anthony have to navigate the water between maid and nobleman especially when they both feel the attraction between them. I couldn't put this book down, I had to know what happened, Jen's writing kept me hooked and engaged, and unlike other historical romances, it was full of plot twists, they just kept coming. Very enjoyable, I can't wait to read more from this author.

Lady Elizabeth Davenport runs away after her father sells her hand in marriage to a man she does not like. Pretending to be her maid, she escapes and gets on a ship bound for America. Once on board she meets Lord Anthony Barton who is amused at this housekeeper who needs to learn how to be a housekeeper, and decides to help her navigate her new position. They both feel the connection and attraction between them, but noblemen don't marry housekeepers. With the odds stacked against them, will Liz and Anthony allow themselves a happy ending?
