This memoir is a love letter to storytelling as an art form. Daniel Nayeri weaves in so many different emotions. I laughed, I cried, I learned, I yearned. There were so many “truth nuggets” that speak to being human as well.
While I really enjoyed this, I did knock it 1/2 star in my rating for accessibility reasons. While this is marketed as middle grade, I think it would be a struggle for my 8th graders to follow the multiple plots that are all interconnected. My biggest gripe was a complete lack of chapters. I get why the author made this choice, but I personally feel it would be difficult for emerging readers to truly access and grasp the story without further support.
