Second Star by Alyssa Sheinmel
2.0
A reinvention of Peter Pan, set on the Californian coast. Surfers, missing brothers, drugs, and rivals play out through the novel.
I don't even know what to say right now. *contains SPOILERS*
The cover is pretty.
On one hand it's really good and action packed and so unique. I loved some of the Peter Pan switches; like the flying.
The setting was the best bit i think.
However, the drugs ended it for me (as it would for the characters I suppose). I thought it'd just be a little thing and then SHE TOOK SOME (which was just like wait what? It didn't seem consistent to the character) and then it became a BIG THING and then it became ALL OF IT and the ending was just like WHAAAAT IT WAS ALL FAKE? or not? frustrating, and i hated how drugs suddenly explain everything and Wendy was using like all the time. Greeeeaaaat.
I mean seriously.
If I had known, I would not have read this.
recommended for: Um… Probably not Peter Pan lovers because they'll be like WAIT NO.
