Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis

3.0

Goodness some people have a strong hate on for this book and her "preaching/advice" (I wonder what made them read it...it does look like a "self help" kind of book...).

I can see how some reviewers may think she's entitled, a humble brag, full of white privilege....and yet she has a story to tell. She HAS lived through some stuff! Maybe it wasn't a book that speaks to EVERYONE (as Hollis dreamed of a Louis Vuitton bag, maybe others just dreamed of another meal and found this unrelatable. I can see that)....but again, she's been through stuff. Hard stuff. Crappy stuff that no one should have to go through...and she's gained strength and wisdom through it.

There wasn't a lot of "new" stuff to me but just like I can see how some may not enjoy it, I can see how many will get something out of it and be super encouraged....my only worry is to those who LOVE it and look at this like a second bible; I believe there's a bit more of a "striving" mentality. Make your goals and go after them sounds great but also pretty worldly. What if God's timing doesn't line up with your own? What if you hit a wall and get back out there - but God wants you to be still...wait for a bit, and focus on HIS timing..? I think those are things to take into consideration so you don't get burnt out.

But all in all she was lovely and I always give authors major points for being vulnerable and sharing their story. <3
