Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

Did not finish book.
I understand why people like this book, I appreciate that it exists, and I liked a lot of the themes this story had to offer.

But forming an opinion on it, solely as a fantasy book, I just didn't really enjoy it. I thought it was a little too  info-dumpy (a lot of "as you know", where the characters within the world all know the lore and rules of the world, but have to explain it for the benefit of the audience). I also didn't really love any of the characters, I DNF'd before I got to the romance parts but I knew they were coming, and I didn't think any of the characters had real romantic chemistry or were going to be convincing or developed well.
(Also I was secretly hoping for Zelie/Amari but whatever)

I really wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't do it. I'm definitely planning on seeing the movie when it comes out because I think, with the right director, this book will translate VERY well into film. And please take my opinion with a grain of salt and give this book a try for yourselves, I'm not NOT recommending it, it just wasn't for me.
