Dracula by Bram Stoker
5.0

Cons: The book went on a little too long, and some characters liked to hear themselves talk a little too much. Also, waaaay too much repetition of the idea that “This is a job for strong men!”

Pros: I actually had a lot of fun reading the book and liked the early vibes of it as a medical mystery. Also, despite all the strong men, whenever Mina was out of the loop, especially when the men wanted to preserve her “delicate womanly sensibilities,” things always got worse (and Mina’s knowledge got them out of several tight spots they may never have solved on their own), so whether Stoker intended it or not, I’m taking away that it’s never a good idea to ignore the women.

Overall, this wasn’t always the Dracula story I expected based on pop culture, but I’m pleasantly surprised by it anyway!
