Deadpool, Vol. 1: Dead Presidents by Brian Posehn, Gerry Duggan

Did not finish book.
I had such high hopes. I ALWAYS have such high hopes for Deadpool. And somehow it never quite hits for me.

I'd love to hear some peoples' favorites because I feel like there's something here that just isn't hitting the spot for me.

Have to say, I think Brian Posehn is a hilarious guy, but the script didn't work for me. I mean, it's a trade paperback with good art and some good concepts, but I couldn't finish it. The jokes are mostly pop culture references that didn't do much for me. I mean, I know we get in trouble when we say, "These jokes are all just THIS or THAT" because eventually you get into "These jokes are just little stories with funny little parts that are a little awkward and expressed through a clever point of view." But when I say the jokes are pop culture references, they're the type that are more about saying that a piece of pop culture exists as opposed to making a comment on it or pushing it into a novel structure or situation.

The script was also pretty confusing in terms or where are we and what the hell is going on. Which I'm totally willing to overlook in the interest of hilarity. But without the hilarity and without the through line, I had to call it quits.

Anyway, what are the best Deadpool storylines?
