The Sweetest Oblivion by Danielle Lori
dark
medium-paced
- Strong character development? No
2.5
2.5 stars.
Something feels off. I can't put my finger on it but something feels off. I didn't buy into this being a love story, ironic considering it was a Mafia romance. I don't know how to phrase it but there was no relationship exploration, no growth in any of the characters- they felt juvenile the entire book- and by the end, I still didn't see a love story develop, I saw sexual tension and lust, but no love. I even wished Nico was obsessed with her, like completely obsessed with her. Maybe that would be it. Or them discussing their feelings. I wanted him to be all soft and weak for her. I don't know.ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
I liked the fluffy scenes before they got together. Those made me laugh. And I also loved the drunk scene right before the end. And of course the smut scenes. I just feel like something was missing, and I don't know what it was. Aargh! I hate that for me.
