dnae 's review for:
Of Love and Other Demons
by Gabriel García Márquez
Of love and other demons, mainly, the human penchant for race, class, and religion-based discrimination. As usual Márquez weaves a magical tale with overtones of tragedy and as usual, I enjoy it thoroughly. I can't help but think of the cyclicalities of time and human birth and death especially in regards to loneliness, as is present in most characters, and as presented in his One Hundred Years of Solitude. Vivid imagery and writing and a good book to read when delirious of sickness yourself (which was me, reading this).
