The Spear Cuts Through Water
by Simon Jimenez
What an uncomfortable book.
It started strong and I thought at first that I was going to like the story within a story within a story idea, but it quickly got tiresome. There’s no doubt this is original and fresh, but the spectating narrator made me feel so uninvolved in this story and I frankly just didn’t care what happened to any one of the characters. Plus, as others have already said, I don’t want to read a book where multiple sons want to eat their mother. Let’s just not do that.
I’m glad this is a stand-alone cause there was no way I was gonna jump into this world again.
